PRODUCT & TECHNOLOGY

What makes Lumohs different from other dermaplaning handles?

Lumohs integrates medical-grade illumination directly into the handle, helping professionals to see hair, texture, and contour with surgical clarity. It transforms dermaplaning from a routine cosmetic exfoliation into a light-enhanced precision treatment.

Is Lumohs single-use or reusable?

Both. The Lumohs Pro is a rechargeable, reusable handle version used with light transmitting disposable sterile butter blade cartridges. The Single-Use Lumohs is preloaded with butter blades, sterile, and designed for one-time use, and comes in red, blue or white LED versions.

What type of blades are compatible?

For Lumohs Pro- Only our proprietary Lumohs Pro butter blade cartridges house standard butter-style blades inside a protective loader system that ensures alignment, sterility, and safety during both loading and disposal.

Can I autoclave or sterilize the handle?

Single-use handles are sterile and disposable for one time use only. Lumohs Pro handles are currently not autoclavable. For sterile procedures with Lumohs Pro, however, use a sterile Bovie-style sheath (sold under Accessories) over the handle. For all other uses, clean and disinfect the handle between clients using an EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectant wipe compatible with non-autoclavable devices, per the IFU guidelines.

SAFETY & REGULATION

Is Lumohs safe ?

Yes. Lumohs was designed with safety as its top priority. The system helps reduce blade-handling risks through our touchless blade loader and ejector, and provides built-in illumination to help estheticians visualize and avoid danger zones on the client’s face.

Are Lumohs Pro butter blades sterile?

Yes. Each Lumohs Pro butter blade cartridge is sterilized using validated gamma irradiation (VDmax method).

Are there contraindications for dermaplaning?

The same contraindications that apply to dermaplaning with a no. 3 stainless steel handle also apply to Lumohs. The professional and physician should assess each client/patient prior to treatment for contraindications.

PROFESSIONAL USE

Who can purchase Lumohs Pro?

Licensed estheticians, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and medical spas for use by licensed estheticians.

Do I need training before use?

While intuitive, Lumohs Pro includes extensive IFU along with a simple short instruction video tutorial. All instructions should be reviewed and read prior to use.

Is dermaplaning safety important?

Yes. Safety is fundamental to the design of Lumohs. The same clinical judgment and professional considerations apply when using Lumohs as with a standard No. 3 stainless steel scalpel handle and blade. Treatment decisions must always be made by a licensed professional or physician. Integrated illumination is intended to enhance visibility during use.

What is the “O.G.” Lumohs Dermaplane?

The O.G. Lumohs is the original battery-operated model that started it all. It requires replaceable batteries and provides white LED light only — a trusted, budget-friendly option for training and schools. This is the largest handle we sell and is recognized by the large black round handle.

How is Lumohs Pro different from the O.G.?
  • Lumohs Pro Rechargeable vs. "O.G." Battery Replacement — Pro recharges; O.G. uses replaceable batteries. The Lumohs Pro offers many advantages over the O.G.and they include:
  • Four Lighting Modes — White, Red, Blue, and Green on Pro vs. White-only on O.G.
  • Touchless Loading System — Pro uses a patented hands-free cartridge loader, eliminating blade-handling injuries.
  • Pro = premium performance; O.G. = basic illumination.
  • Lumohs Pro is lighter, slimmer and sleeker than the original Lumohs Dermaplane handle.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT HANDLE

How do I know which Lumohs handle is best for me?
  • Lumohs Pro – rechargeable, multi-color illumination, touchless loading; ideal for professionals and med-spas. Our newest, best and most versatile handle yet. Also, sleeker design is great for tight spaces.
  • Single-Use Lumohs – sterile, disposable convenience; perfect for hygienic one-time use, for mobile estheticians and spa practices that don’t want to pay for an autoclave and maintain its compliance .
  • O.G. Lumohs – largest and heaviest, battery-powered simplicity; great for those that want a larger thicker heavier handle and prefers battery power vs USB charged power.

WHY LIGHT MATTERS

Why does lighting matter in dermaplaning?

Lighting dictates precision. Shadows or glare hide vellus hair and texture. Lumohs illumination helps provide an even, shadow-free visibility, enabling consistent, confident exfoliation.

Why integrated lighting instead of external lamps?
  • Precision – light aligns perfectly with blade path.
  • Consistency – reduces shadowing on curves.
  • Efficiency – reduces need for repositioning lamps mid-treatment.
  • Safety – helps with visual clarity which may help reduce accidental nicks.
  • Professionalism – clients perceive a higher-end, clinical-grade service.
  • Higher client fees plus cost savings & portability.
  • Helps reduce liability risks with proper illumination and removes manual blade changing.
What are the benefits of each light color?

White Light

  • True daylight tone; highest accuracy for inspection
  • Best Used For: All skin types

Red Light

  • Calming (~630 nm); great for visibility in dimly lit environments, reduces glare and visual fatigue.
  • Best Used For: Sensitive or post-procedure

Blue Light

  • Clarifying (~450 nm); Enhances edge contrast, fine detail, sharpens visibility , with reduced eye strain
  • Best Used For: Oily/acne-prone

Green Light

  • Balancing (~525 nm); provides superior visibility with reduced eye strain.
  • Best Used For: Uneven tone, PIH
Is the light safe?

Yes. Lumohs LEDs are low-heat, non-UV, medical-grade, compliant with international photobiological safety standards.

HANDS-FREE TOUCHLESS LOADING

What is a “hands-free touchless blade loader”?

A safety-engineered docking system that loads or ejects blades without touching them. This helps eliminate the risk of blade handling, loading and unloading injury risks so commonly seen with all other scalpels and blades.

How does it work?

Insert the Lumohs Pro handle into the loader slot → it automatically locks and loads a new cartridge. After use, re-dock → press release → the used cartridge drops safely into a sharps compartment.

Why is this important?

It helps reduce blade-handling injury risks, helps preventing contamination, and supports OSHA sharps-safety compliance.

Are loaders included?

Yes. Every 50 pack Lumohs Blade Refill Cartridge includes one Touchless Loader.

No. The program is free for lumohs Pro refill blade annual subscribers as we will send you a prepaid return label to attach to your original shipping box to return 10 empty loaders (note SAAS subscribers and non-subscribers return at customer cost) .

How often should I return loaders?

We recommend returning once you’ve collected at least 10 empty blade cartridge free loaders to optimize transport efficiency and sustainability.
