Why is Lumohs Pro safer than a traditional no. 3 scalpel handle?

Lumohs Pro was engineered with safety as its core design principle. Lumohs Pro helps
eliminate traditional blade-handling risks through a fully touchless blade
loader and ejector system, so you never have to manually touch or attach a
sharp blade.

The device also helps enhance treatment safety by using integrated white, red,
blue, and green lights to help improve visibility of contours and potential danger
zones on the skin—helping estheticians avoid nicks, pressure errors, and blind
spots due to poor visibility.

Do I need to sterilize the handle?

No. Lumohs Pro is a reusable cosmetic device, so sterilization isn’t
required. Between clients, follow standard esthetic infection-control
protocol:

  1. First, before cleaning, always
    eject the used blade "touch-free"     by pressing 2 side buttons on
    your lumohs Pro handle. Eject blade directly into a sharps puncture
    resistant box.
  2. Wipe the handle with a
    medical-grade disinfectant wipe     (EPA registered/hospital grade or as required by your state board).
  3. Let it air-dry before the next use.

For added protection, many estheticians use a Bovie sheath (SOLD HERE) over
the handle to prevent contamination—this is optional.

Do not submerge the device in water. Always follow your state board’s
guidelines for non-critical esthetic tools.

Can I use other blades?

We have many different dermaplaning blade size and options. However, you can only use our Lumohs Pro proprietary light transmitting butter blade cartridges and hands free loader with Lumohs Prl.

Is it safe for all skin types?

As with any dermaplaning procedure (whether using Lumohs
Pro or a traditional No. 3 handle), you should take a client/patient
history and screen for standard contraindications such as active acne,
open lesions, recent chemical peels, or compromised skin barriers.

The safety considerations are the same as with any professional dermaplaning
tool—Lumohs Pro simply adds greater visibility and touchless blade handling.
