First, remove rear cap on Lumohs by twisting counter-clockwise. This will open the battery compartment.

Second, remove old battery cartridge and install new one in direction shown on handle- positive polarity facing towards blade end of handle.

Third, gently push battery cartridge all the way in the battery compartment. No need to force, cartridge will fit nicely inside and stop once it is fully installed.

Fourth, close battery compartment by re-attaching rear cap and gently twisting clockwise until it stops. Lumohs will turn on, confirming battery cartridge was installed properly.

Install any #15, #10 or #11 blade by just as you would a standard #3 scalpel. Lumohs is no different.

Install a #15 blade as you would a traditional #3 scalpel until it snaps over Lumohs’ stainless steel universal blade holder.  Confirm that it is firmly attached and will not slip off.

Install a #10 blade as you would a traditional #3 scalpel until it snaps over Lumohs’ stainless steel universal blade holder.  Confirm that it is firmly attached and will not slip off.

Install a #11 blade as you would a traditional #3 scalpel until it snaps over Lumohs’ stainless steel universal blade holder.  Confirm that it is firmly attached and will not slip off.

Remove the blade from Lumohs just as you would remove a blade from a #3 scalpel using a needle holder. Hold the blade and Lumohs pointed away from your body.

Keeping Lumohs and the blade pointed away from your body, attach the needle holder to the rear end of the blade .

Once the needle holder has grasped the rear of the blade, lift slightly while sliding blade off of Lumohs and away from your body or any one else.

Once the contaminated blade is removed, and while still in needle holder, dispose in sharps container.

Before autoclaving,  remember to remove battery cartridge. Place cleaned Lumohs with rear cap off into autoclavable pouch as you would for any instrument.

Once Lumohs and Lumohs cap are placed in sterile pouch, seal pouch.

Place sterile pouch on autoclave tray as you would any other instruments.

Close autoclave door, and use autoclave just as you do for other instruments.
